NMBS Mission

1. to support, promote and enhance a woman’s natural ability to mother
2. to offer a wide variety of programs, services and products in a nurturing environment
3. to educate mothers about resources available in their community and complement community programming and;
4. to offer bridging support and services aimed at fostering personal growth and development in recognition of the social, economic, cultural and political issues and barriers that mothers face

Operating Principles

1. We will do our best to ensure that all mothers feel welcomed, accepted and supported.
2. We will support all mothers regardless of their lifestyle, social situation or parenting style.
3. We will provide parenting options by making information available and ensure it is presented in a non-judgmental fashion.
4. We encourage a peer support model, recognizing that every mother has something to contribute.
5. We will relate to others in a way that acknowledges that no one is perfect.
6. We will do our best to accommodate individuals and organizations with limited financial resources.
7. We will ensure that personal information shall be kept confidential and used only for society business.
8. We will not support or receive funds from any source that takes advantage of people’s addictions.
9. We will do our best to conduct business in an environmentally sensitive way.
10. We will conduct the finances of the society with sound and ethical financial practices.
