Nanaimo Doula Collective

The Nanaimo Doula Collective is a local collective of birth and postpartum doulas, providing support to families in the Nanaimo are. Our diverse doulas bring a rich background of education and experience to their work.
To access a doula, simply call or email us and we will aim to connect you with a few doulas who are available when your baby is due for your to interview. You can also stop by during one of our Meet the Doula Days.
We host an informal Meet the Doula event on the last Thursday of every month from 3:00-4:00. Give us a call to let us know if you plan to come.
This is a great way meet the doulas and ask your questions. If this time doesn’t work for you, please let us know– we may be able to arrange a different time.

Fees For Service:

The cost of doula support varies depending on the education, certification, skill and experience of the doula and the support the mother and her family want. It may also vary to accommodate families with limited funds.

Birth Doula Support typically runs anywhere from $350 to $800, and most often includes 2 prenatal meetings, support throughout labor and birth, and 2 postpartum meetings.

Postpartum Doula Support is typically about $15-$25 an hour, The amount of postpartum support a family might need will depend on their personal circumstances. Typically, families request a postpartum doula once or twice a week, for 2 or 3 hours/visit.

A common way women access doula care is as a gift from their families, who may be unable, or unavailable to be with the new family. Doula support is an amazing gift to give!

If our fees prevent you from accessing support, please contact our coordinator to discuss your situation.
