The CBC Best of Ideas program has a fabulous podcast series called The Brains of Babies. This three part series takes a really in depth look at infant brain development in the womb and in early childhood and offers valuable information on the Nurture/Nature debate. Part three of the series looks at how we as a country can improve our supports to mothers and families. Canada is ranked in last place out of the 25 richest countries in the world for support and education in the early childhood years.

Also presented by The Best of Ideas is a two part series titled The Hurried Infant. Quoting from the CBC: "In 1981 a book called The Hurried Child warned us that children were being pushed too far, too fast. David Elkind’s book became an instant classic. Today it seems the process has only intensified. There are pre-natal stimulation kits to induce fetal learning. Baby Einstein toys. There is also much discussion of how to smart-wire baby’s brain to expand cognitive powers, foster language abilities and improve sleep patterns. IDEAS producer Mary O’Connell explores this new terrain of Super Babies."
